Story Time: Comfy Cozy Fire Day

The Adventure Cadets snuggle in for story time by the fire on a cold winter night.

Welcome, friends to another story time Ollie-Holiday story time adventure.

Winter winds howl as winter winds do.  They blow in with a bluster and might shaking the shutters and rattling the windows.  Tonight is not a good night for star gazing or evening walks.  It is however, the perfect night to gather with friends (as most nights are) in quiet comfort.

The  Moonwater Adventure Cadets arrived for a winter night’s sleepover.  The Bearly Brothers brought some new video games they got for Christmas.  Ticklebit and Spoon wanted to play with Ollie’s model rocket collection.   Artemouse took the night off from imaginary crime fighting.  Limon wanted to play with his new telescope.

All Ollie wanted was a quiet night by the comfy cozy fire.

Ollie likes when all his friends come over but he doesn’t always like all the noise.  Sometimes, instead of a daring adventure, he likes a cup of hot chocolate by a roaring, crackling fire.  Tonight is the kind of night made for having your comfy blankie wrapped around you.  However, Ollie loves his friends and if they want to make a racket, that’s okay with him.

Of epic tomes and crunchy pizza

Ollie sat in the midst of video game, model rocket chaos turning pages without reading the words.  After the third attempt at reading page four he just about gave up.  It’s not easy to be quiet and thoughtful when this bunch revs up.  Then the doorbell rang.  The pizzas arrived.

Finally, everyone paused for a bite.  Then a funny thing happened: Spoon asked Ollie what he was reading.  The Pirates of the Pumpernickel Seas, a rousing adventure story.  Suddenly, ears perked up.  Artemouse asked if Ollie if he’d read aloud as the Cadets gathered around.

The winter winds howled outside.  The stars twinkled in the clear night air.  The Adventure Cadets, in their red footie pajamas, sat by the comfy cozy fire with pizza and popcorn as Ollie led them on a bold adventure of fun and imagination.

That’s how frigid windy nights are best spent.
